Playcentre Awareness Week - 6 - 12 March

The theme will be 'Good Clean Fun' and we're planning to celebrate that with 5 days of messy play! Become a Messy Play Expert in five days! Read all about the campaign here.

See some of the events that's on offer at our Playcentres to help celebrate and promote Playcentre Awareness Week. If you would like to have your event for Playcentre Awareness Week added to this list email the information to dalene@canplay.org.nz.

Vacancies at Playcentre

We have two vacancies at Playcentre. One job as a Property Project Coordinator to help us manage all the building projects; and a Communications Officer to help us to write stories about Playcentre and their whānaua. You can see more information about both jobs here.

Book your workshop

Course 4, Course 3 and one Course 2 block workshops are now open for bookings. You can register for these workshops on our website.

Education programmes will be posted on the Canterbury Education Facebook page as soon as they are finalised. Please share these posts on your centre Facebook page. We want to see many centres take on training this year!  

Bags for good Neighbourhood

Rangiora Playcentre

If you're shopping at The Warehouse Rangiora please take the opportunity to put some tokens in the box for Rangiora Playcentre who have been selected to participate in the 'Bags for Good Neighbourhood' promotion. The more tokens received after six months the more money will be donated to put towards our outdoor area. An ad is also on our public Facebook page so feel free to share it. Thank you!

Russley Playcentre

You can help support Russley Playcentre to raise funds for their outdoor play area. When you are at the checkout at The Warehouse on Blenheim Road please ask for a cardboard disc to place in a voting container for 'Bags for Good Neighbourhood' fundraiser, thank you. At the end of a six month period funds raised will be given to Russley Playcentre according to a percentage of total votes. So let's go shopping everyone at The Warehouse : Where Everyone Gets a Bargain!

Please contact Amy McClintock at mckaya2@hotmail.com or phone 027 373 1831 if your centre is interested in the FUNdaBabies or FUNdaKids programmes (fliers attached) or would like more information.   Price and session structure is tailored to meet the needs of your centre.   A hard copy of the fliers will be posted to your centre on Wednesday 10th of February.

Mitre 10 MEGA - A Run to Remember : Sunday 21 February 

Mitre 10 MEGA - A Run to Remember : Sunday 21 February 
This is a 10km charity fun run/walk to honour those who lost their lives in the February 2011 earthquake.  The course features views over Christchurch, across the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps, allowing for reflection and remembrance (flier attached).

Location: Victoria Park
On the day registration: 7.30am
Event starts: 9.00am

Playcentre to do list

  • Self review: Decide on a focus and gather information
  • Ensure civil defense kit is up to date
  • Get ready to apply for the Rata foundation grant - email Jenny@canplay.org.nz with any questions.
  • Fire drills in Week 4 - These are to be completed the week of the 22nd to 26th February. Please put reminders up at your centre to hold these on each session of that week at 10am.
