Term 1 Week 8

Term 1 Week 8

We're growing!

Good news! Our bulk funding for the March payout is moving upwards.

  • Babies CanPlay 28% increase!
  • Centre Under two increase of 8.9%
  • Over two increase of 0.42%

If you're interested to see how your centre is going have a look at this spreadsheet.

Well done everyone! Every little action we take - positive conversations with new whānau, providing great sessions, posts on Facebook about the benefits of Playcentre, talking to family and friends about the joys of being involved in Playcentre, arranging promotion events, inspiring centre whanau - is making a difference. Thank you for your ongoing commitment and enthusiasm to make Playcentre a great place to be!

Let's keep growing :)

Education resources on website

We are aware that certain training resources are often not available in centres. Rather than asking you to buy new resources at a substantial cost, we will try to put, if possible, resources as pdf's on our website. This depends on copy right etc but if we can share it we will! You can now find under the education>resources tab the equipment book Course 2 students need to complete their licensing requirements task (2.1 task 4)

Changes to pay rates

If you are changing any of your employees pay rates (this includes staff changing to the new minimum wage) can you please ensure you amend the First Schedule in their employment contract and send a copy in to CPA for our records.

Playcentre Federation Calendar orders

Centre orders are due at CPA by Wednesday 30 March 2016.   An order form was mailed out to all centres on Monday 14 March.    Playcentre calendars are $8.00 each and Journals are $2.00 each per issue (3 issues per year).

Course 2 Online

We are still receiving many requests to join our online version of Course 2.  Unfortunately we are unable to accept any new enrollments in this course at present as it is over subscribed.  As soon as students complete spaces will become available again.

We really need students currently in this programme to complete to allow other committed students to take part.

The expectation is that students complete course 2 by this programme within a term.  Going forward, if you have not completed the requirements within  six months, we unfortunately need to remove your name from the programme to allow others an opportunity.

If you require support to complete your studies in this online programme, please contact Alex - alex@canplay.org.nz

Fire drill data

A reminder that you your fire drill data was due at the beginning of March. Please enter your data here ASAP or email it to kirsty@canplay.org.nz

The NZ Fire Department need your reports 5 working days after you complete your last drill for the week. Kirsty has sent out emails last week to those who still need to submit their data.

What's on in the wider world?

KidsFest 9-23 July 2016 [Term 2 School Holidays]

Kidsfest 2016 is celebrating 25 years of inspiring, educating and igniting the creative spark in young people. Kidsfest is a great way to raise your centre's community profile, promote your centre and attract new members.

If you would like to participate please email Nicky at office@canplay.org.nz before Friady 11 March with details about your event.

Jody’s Music & Movement

Thanks for having me today at the Playcentre Teddy Bear Picnic. I saw a couple of familiar faces!

I'm happy to come around to Playcentre's and run occasional music sessions. I use the centre's resources so that the leaders and parents can then use these ideas when running their own music sessions.

I am happy for a koha, but if the Playcentre wants a fixed price I charge $30 per session (covers petrol and additional resources of my own like bubble mixture).

The best way to contact me is by e-mail to j.keehan@xtra.co.nz or call me on 027-6943640.
