Leithfield is a small village some 40 minutes north of Christchurch with farms and orchards, rivers and the beach, mountains and forests close by. Starting by visiting the special properties of Playcentre families, the kids have been exploring the local environment and getting to know their turangawaewae. And having lots of fun with their friends! Read the #CoolStory.
Maori Language Week July 4-10 2016 is going to be positive, relevant, energetic, fun and exciting! It will show New Zealand that there is a place for the Māori language in our stadiums, on our sports fields, in the news and the ever growing realm of social media. It will also show the country that te reo Māori is a language for all New Zealanders.
The theme for this year is ākina te reo – behind you all the way which is about using te reo Māori to support people, to inspire and to cheer on.
Continuing with last year’s approach, there will be 50 phrases in te reo Māori that are simple to use, even for those with little or no grasp of the language. Click here to download a poster with the 50 phrases.
Let's make it a Playcentre challenge to see how many phrases we can master in a year. Let us know how you are making progress.
The MoE RS61P's are in the post today (Friday 1 July 2016) to all centres and some Babies CanPlay Facilitatorsfor completion and return to the CPA Office by next Friday the 8th of July please.
Apologies for the extremely short deadline, this is due to the school holidays, date due back at MoE/Wellington and CPA only received the documentation this morning from MoE.

A reminder to centres to please log into Office 365 as soon as possible to change your temporary password as set up by NZ Playcentre Federation.
Canterbury Playcentres already have their own email addresses through gmail, xtra, hotmail etc; your centre is welcome to keep this if you prefer and Meagan the Federation Secretary - email@example.com can organise a redirection for the @playcentre.org.nz to go to your email address.

Congratulations also to Redwood Playcentre for winning a bookcase from participating in the recent 'Great Jennian Crusade' as well as receiving a visit from three Crusaders (Nemani Nadolo, Kieron Fonotia, Pete Samu) and staff members of Jennian Homes on the 22nd of June. The centre provided croissants and bagels for breakfast, decorated their premises in red and black and the tamariki created shields for this special occasion, ka pai everyone. Read their story here.

We need to give each other the space to grow, to be ourselves, to exercise our diversity. We need to give each other space so that we may both give and receive such beautiful things as ideas, openness, dignity, joy, healing, and inclusion.
